Fume
Collecting Hood
Hot waste gases and suspended particles can impact
and erode the refractory lining resulting in increased
maintenance to steelwork and reduced thermal efficiency.
Fibre addition can improve refractory toughness
by more than 100% and halve maintenance costs.
Recommendation: ME 430
Stack
The refractory lining needs to endure considerable
mechanical wear from repeated charging. Fibres
prevent the lining from cracking and spalling,
improving thermal insulation and reducing repair
and maintenance costs to vessel steelwork.
Recommendation: ME 446
Heat Shield Doors
Radiant heat and splashing molten steel can
quickly crack and spall this refractory reducing
protection to surrounding steelwork. Access for
repair can be difficult hence performance is paramount.
A fibre-reinforced castable maximises campaign
life and reduces repair costs by up to 50%.
