Walkways
Hot coke spillage and mechanical wear from heavy plant can crack walkway concrete, making movement difficult and sometimes dangerous. The added mechanical strength imparted by fibres provides economies of 200-300%.

Doors
An efficient door helps eliminate gas emissions and heat loss. But, conventional pusher and coke-side doors can leak if their refractory cracks or spalls e.g. after repeated thermal cycling, water jet cleaning of tar and carbon deposits etc. Fibres however reduce cracking, thereby improving energy efficiency and emissions control and reducing maintenance costs.
