A range of monofilament and fibrillated fibres for the rapid
release of moisture when firing refractory castables and gunmixes.
POLYPORE fibres are now widely used in the refractory
market.
POLYPORE
speeds the removal of excess moisture during the initial firing
phase. By creating microscopic capillary canals POLYPORE
quickens the release of the free excess water, as vapour,
out of the refractory, thereby minimising thermal stress damage
and firing time.
COST SAVINGS
POLYPORE'S low cost and low dosage levels add, typically,
less than 2% to the castable material cost but the payback
in safeguarding against explosive failures, premature cracking
and costly repairs can be immense.
LOW DOSAGE LEVELS
A dosage level of just 0.05 - 0.10% by weight is generally
all that is necessary, i.e. 0.5 -1.0 kg of POLYPORE ST
or MF per tonne of castable. Some refractory manufacturers
however have found additional benefits at 0.2% by weight,
i.e. 2 kgs of POLYPORE St or MF per tonne of castable.
