Fibretech offers a specialised vacuum heat treatment facility for various sub-contract heat-treatment work, including:
- » Vacuum heat treatment
- » Vacuum sintering
- » Vacuum brazing
- » Controlled atmosphere heat treatment
The facility is ideally suited for stainless steel and tool steels, although other materials are possible.
Maximum operating temperature is 1200°C with a 1000,000; mbar vacuum operating pressure. This high vacuum is created by a cryogenic pump which gives a water vapour partial pressure of 1,000,000,000 mbar and results in an exceptionally clean product.
Hot zone dimensions are 250 x 250 x 350 mm and it is also possible to apply an internal load on the piece using a 5 tonne ram that is particularly useful for powder sintering.
The plant chamber can be gas quenched with nitrogen or argon (other gases by special request) to help prevent the formation of deleterious internal phases within the material or to improve mechanical properties. Where required, the furnace can be evacuated and then back filled with an inert gas for other specialised heat treatment work.
All heat treatment data is recorded and charts can be provided on request.
